Most of the guys did a good altitude training camp in Sierra Nevada and will now resume competition, and five of our guys will do both races. We can’t say these races have any more secrets, it will be mostly about finding out where we are at this moment. For Omloop we have a couple of riders who could get a good result, while for Kuurne, if it comes down to a bunch sprint, we’ll be curious to see what Luke can do."

- Team DSM men lineup for the 2022 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:

Søren Kragh Andersen (DEN)
Nikias Arndt (GER)

John Degenkolb (GER)
Nico Denz (GER)

Nils Eekhoff (NED)
Jonas Iversby Hvideberg (NOR)

Kevin Vermaerke (USA)

- Phil West (Team DSM coach): "We're excited to get our classics campaign underway at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad this weekend. It doesn't seem like long ago we were at our first winter training camp, discussing how we would approach the race and here we are; everyone is really motivated for it. As always in the classics we expect some hard and tough racing and we want to ride well as a group throughout the day to create the best opportunities for us. The slight change of route could see more attacking racing so we need to be sharp from the flag drop. We want to try and play our numbers well with John and Nils, who have recently returned from a good altitude camp, our finishers for the day."

- Team DSM women roster for the 2022 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:

Pfeiffer Georgi (GBR)

Franziska Koch (GER)

Charlotte Kool (NED)

Liane Lippert (GER)

Floortje Mackaij (NED)

Lorena Wiebes (NED)

- Huub Duijn (Team DSM women's coach): "Omloop marks the start of our classics campaign and we're all looking forward to it. During the race we will look for opportunities through aggressive racing in the hill zone. With the Molenberg out of the parcours, then it could potentially be a bit of different race than we seen in recent years. Yet, it will be still hard enough to split things up, especially with the Muur and Bosberg combination deep into the final of the day. We believe our strength for the race is in the width and depth of our squad and we hope to create numbers, and as a result opportunities for us in the front, by being attentive and through aggressive racing."

- Anna van der Breggen (Team SD Worx) won the women's 2021 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.  Davide Ballerini (Deceuninck-Quickstep) won the men's 2021 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.

- The 2022 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is being held Saturday, February 26.

- Due to covid-19, the OHN race organizers are asking fans to stay at home and to follow the men's and women's races live on television. Spectators will not be allowed at the race start and finish or on the climbs or cobbled sectors which will also be closed.

- Alexander Kristoff (UAE Team Emirates) before the 2021 edition of the Omloop: "Last year's classics campaign ended well for me with a podium in Flanders so I’m hungry to come back and find that form again. The competition is high but we are keen to show that we can fight with any team not only in the Grand Tours but also in the classics.
Trentin is a good addition to the squad and we hope to be able to help each other in the hard finales."

- UAE Team Emirates roster for the Belgium opening weekend (Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne):

-Sven Erik Bystrom (Nor)
-Ryan Gibbons (RSA)
-Alexander Kristoff (Nor)
-Vegard Stake Laengen (Nor)
-Marco Marcato (Ita)
-Matteo Trentin (Ita)
-Oliviero Troia (Ita)

- Allan Peiper (UAE Team Emirates Sports Director) : “We’re looking forward to the racing starting here in Belgium . The weather looks to be good, we’ll be doing our route recons this week to readjust to the cobbled roads after a few months away. As a team we’ll be hoping for success , especially through Kristoff and our new recruit Trentin who are our leaders this weekend.”

- Deceuninck-Quickstep lineup for the 2021 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:

Julian Alaphilippe (FRA)
Kasper Asgreen (DEN)
Davide Ballerini (ITA)
Tim Declercq (BEL)
Yves Lampaert (BEL)
Florian Sénéchal (FRA)
Zdenek Stybar (CZE)
Sports directors: Wilfried Peeters (BEL)
Tom Steels (BEL)
Rik van Slycke (BEL)

- Deceuninck-Quickstep directeur sportif Tom Steels: "It’s finally that time of the year, the Opening Weekend which riders and fans love so much. We are excited and really looking forward to it. Julian will have another nice shot of showing what he is capable of doing on the Flemish roads, after last year’s De Ronde. It will be great to see him ride a prestigious race as Omloop clad in the rainbow jersey."

- More from Tom Steels: "We are curious to see Davide Ballerini – who had a superb start to the season in Provence – in action. Last year he was slated to make his cobbles debut for us, but due to the weird season that we had, this has been postponed for this year. Styby is a former winner of Omloop, while Kasper produced a masterpiece at the previous edition of Kuurne. Yves, who was again strong on the cobbles last season, Florian, Tim – who everyone is used to see at the front pulling hard for the team – Alvaro, Jannik, Stijn and Bert will provide us with a lot of options and firepower for the weekend, which we await with plenty of confidence and motivation."

- Jasper Stuyven after his victory in the 2020 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad: "I told the team that we needed to be in the front all day, and I think the focus from start to finish was excellent; we were always there. And I got to finish off today. It’s the best victory I’ve had. Last year was a disaster, but this year is a good start. Today we showed as a team that last year was a mishap. We have a good group, and we finished the season well last year with Mads winning Worlds, and we were really motivated to keep this vibe going this year, We proved today that it worked out really well."

- Wilfried Peeters (Deceuninck-Quickstep directeur sportif): "The Opening Weekend brings two important races not just in Belgium, but of the whole cycling calendar, Omloop and Kuurne, which we both won several times. We are going there with a very strong and motivated squad and we are eager to see how our riders will kick off the Classics campaign. For Saturday, we have many cards that we can play, including last year’s winner Styby, depending on how the race will unfold. For Kuurne, we added also Fabio, who has shown a very good condition in Portugal last week, and he’ll be one of our options for a good result."

- Michael Valgren (NTT Pro Cycling): "It's super nice to be back in Belgium, even if the weather's been a bit bad. It's nice to be back on the roads that I've won on before and I'm quite excited and getting nervous already.  It's always a special one the Opening Weekend, everyone wants to fight for position so it will for sure be stressful with the gusting wind and the weather so it will be a real day for a "Flandrien".  It will be super-cool, we have a good, motivated team here so I hope we can do well as it will be nice to get a good start to the Cobbles Classics campaign with the guys, so we go for the best and see how it goes."

- CCC Team lineup for the 2020 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:

Jonas Koch (GER)
Michael Schär (SUI)
Matteo Trentin (ITA)
Greg Van Avermaet (BEL)
Gijs Van Hoecke (BEL)
Nathan Van Hooydonck (BEL)
Guillaume Van Keirsbulck (BEL)

- Valerio Piva (CCC Team sport director): "We are excited to line up at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne with two favorites in Greg Van Avermaet and Matteo Trentin. Last year, Greg and Matteo were always present in the finales but they were sometimes isolated without teammates at the end of the race. Having two cards to play puts us in a much better position and will allow the team to race more aggressively than we have in the past."

- UAE Team Emirates roster for the 2020 OHN:

-Mikkel Bjerg (Den)
-Tom Bohli (Swi)
-Alessandro Covi (Ita)
-Alexander Kristoff (Nor)
-Vegard Stake Laengen (Nor)
-Marco Marcato (Ita)
-Sebastian Molano (Col)

- Allan Peiper (Sports Director, UAE Team Emirates): "We go into this opening weekend of racing in Belgium with Alexander Kristoff as leader for Omloop Het Nieuwsblad on Saturday and Jasper Philipsen leader for Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. Both guys have shown some good form already this year and I know both are hungry to get their first wins of the season."

- Team Sunweb lineup for the 2020 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:

Søren Kragh Andersen (DEN)
Nikias Arndt (GER)
Tiesj Benoot (BEL)
Nico Denz (GER)
Nils Eekhoff (NED)
Casper Pedersen (DEN)
Jasha Sütterlin (GER)

- Marc Reef (Team Sunweb directeur sportif): "We're ambitious for the Classics this year and are looking forward to getting things underway after a good preparation period. Our main Classics contenders are just back from high altitude camps so are well prepared and eager to get going with racing. For OHN, Tiesj and Søren will be the guys for the final with the other five guys there to support and bring them into position for the Molenberg, one of the key points in the day where the action normally starts. We want to create as many options as possible in the finale, and go all in for a team result to continue our early season success. We're looking forward to our first cobbled race of the year this weekend."

- Following his stage win at Tour du Haut Var, Sep Vanmarcke (EF Education First) had this to say: "Every Belgian rider wants to be on this top level. But also I’ve started to feel it over the last few days when I’m training or in the supermarket, to feel people are awake again because the Classics are coming. People are super happy I won that stage and on my training days, they’ve been stopping their cars to shout ‘Congratulations’, ‘Good job’, ‘Keep going’ and ‘Good luck this weekend,’."

- Greg Van Avermaet (CCC Team) before the race: "I am feeling really good ahead of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and am excited to start the Classics season. During the winter and early season races, this is what I am always thinking about so it is nice to have the first race here. I think my shape is exactly where it needs to be and I was really impressed by my teammates in Valencia and Oman which was a good sign for the Classics. Although this will be the first cobbled race for us, half of us train together every day in Belgium so we are comfortable as a team.  The Classics season is long and it’s important to maintain good shape right through to April, which isn’t always easy, but it would be really special to get a good result for CCC Team at opening weekend, so this is definitely the goal."

- EF Education First roster for Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:

Sep Vanmarcke
Sebastian Langeveld
Tom Scully
Matti Breschel
Taylor Phinney
Alex Howes
Mitch Docker

- Sep Vanmarcke (EF Education First): "The tactics are you can't really have tactics in this type of race!  Basically in all these Classics the first half of the race is to mainly make the riders a bit tired and then from half-way the hills and the cobbles start, as do the attacks.  Anything can happen.  It's so nervous that people crash a lot. You need to fight a lot for your position, and I need to be with my teammates and trust that they will bring me to the right position. Then in the final it's man-to-man and it’s just very different and hard to choose the tactic."

- CCC Team for the 2019 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:

Michael Schär (SUI)
Greg Van Avermaet (BEL)
Gijs Van Hoecke (BEL)
Nathan Van Hooydonck (BEL)
Guillaume Van Keirsbulck (BEL)
Fransisco Ventoso (ESP)
Łukasz Wiśniowski (POL).
Sports Directors: Valerio Piva (ITA), Fabio Baldato (ITA)

- Valerio Piva (CCC Team sports director): "Of course, Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is an important race for CCC Team as it is the first Classic of the season. We know that Greg is in good shape and is motivated to start the Classics well but there are a lot of riders who can win on Saturday. We will do everything we can to put him in a good position and see how the race plays out.  Greg will be supported more or less by the same riders who joined him at the Tour of Oman, with the exception of Fransisco Ventoso who replaces Kamil Gradek. We have the local experience from our Belgian riders; Gijs Van Hoecke, Nathan Van Hooydonck, and Guillaume Van Keirsbulck, all of whom train on these roads every day.  Michael Schär, who is a valuable road caption, and Łukasz Wiśniowski, who was second at the 2018 edition, complete the squad. We left Oman very happy with the teamwork throughout the week so we are looking forward to seeing these riders race together on the cobbles for the first time this year."

- Defending champion Michael Valgren ahead of the 2019 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad: "It is great to be heading into opening weekend as the defending champion of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Having the number 1 race bib will be special and it will bring back some good memories from last year, but now this weekend is also a new race. I know I have done the work and prepared well for this year's classics season. It's so difficult to win any of these classics but we are going to try and getting off to a good start this weekend will be great, for me and our team."

- Michael Valgren (Astana) won the 2018 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad men's race and is back to defend.  Others expected on the start line in the men's race include: Greg Van Avermaet, Philippe Gilbert, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Tim Wellens, Pascal Ackermann, Arnaud Démare, Niki Terpstra, Lars Boom, Giacomo Nizzolo, Yves Lampaert, Iljo Keisse, Bob Jungels, Zdenek Stybar, Oliver Naesen, Sonny Colbrelli, Sep Vanmarcke, Taylor Phinney, Stefan Kung, Matteo Trentin, Carlos Betancur, Wout Van Aert, Ian Stannard, Michael Matthews, Jasper Stuyven, Stijn Devolder et al.

- Christina Siggaard (Team Virtu Cycling) won the 2018 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad women's race.

- Team Sunweb lineup for the men's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:

Asbjørn Kragh Andersen (DEN)
Søren Kragh Andersen (DEN)
Jan Bakelants (BEL)
Roy Curvers (NED)
Michael Matthews (AUS)
Casper Pedersen (DEN)
Martijn Tusveld (NED)

- Marc Reef (Team Sunweb director sportif): "We have Michael as our leader in the opener of the Flemish Spring Classic season at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad this weekend. We expect him to play a role in the final of the race, with the final support of both Casper and Søren, who showed his great shape this last week in the Algarve.  Michael will take the experience of last year with him, where unfortunately a crash took him out of the race after being in the first group leading up towards the Muur. Both Jan and Asbjørn make their debut for the team and it will also be the first time the Kragh Andersen brothers ride together for Team Sunweb, so it will be a special weekend for them."

- Team Sunweb roster for the women's Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:

Lucinda Brand (NED)
Janneke Ensing (NED)
Juliette Labous (FRA)
Floortje Mackaij (NED)
Coryn Rivera (USA)
Julia Soek (NED)

- Hans Timmermans (Team Sunweb coach): "We're looking forward to the opener of the Classics season this weekend at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad with our Women's program. We've had a good preparation period on training camp and our first race in Valencia was another good step for us, so we're feeling confident that we can compete for a top result. Floortje showed good shape in Spain and this will be her first real test in Belgium. We also have a former winner with Lucinda who is motivated to start her season here and Coryn, who was strong on the climbs in Spain and is also a card to play if it comes to a sprint."

- Annemiek van Vleuten returns from knee injury suffered at UCI Road Worlds: "In total it was eight-weeks before I could ride my race bike again, but after seven-weeks I could do a little bit on the home trainer or the town bike.  People were sometimes talking about my Rio injury but this one was for me very hard. The injury itself was harder than Rio, there was more impact."

- Greg Van Avermaet (BMC Racing) won the 2017 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.

- Race schedules:

Women's race - "Circuit Het Nieuwsblad-Femmes Elite"
Start at 11:43 CET, 5:43am ET
Finish at 15:18 CET, 9:18am ET

Men's race
Start at 11:45 CET, 5:45am ET
Finish at 16:32 CET, 10:32am ET

- Valerie Demey (Lotto Soudal Ladies): "It will be a tough race, tougher than on the old course of the Omloop. The first sixty kilometres shouldn’t be underestimated, because those are definitely not flat. It will be a matter of saving your strengths in the first half of the race. On the first hill the pace will immediately be raised.  Getting to the foot of the first hill in a good position will be crucial. From then on teams will try to make a selection in the bunch. There is not much distance between the hills, so it won’t be possible to move up in the peloton or to take a breath."

- Team Sunweb for Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
DS: VAN DONGEN, Arthur
141 ANDERSEN, Søren Kragh
142 CURVERS, Roy
143 HINDLEY, Jai
144 MATTHEWS, Michael
145 STAMSNIJDER, Tom
146 THEUNS, Edward
147 TUSVELD, Martijn

- Team Sunweb coach Arthur van Dongen: "We want to ride aggressively at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and show ourselves in the break of the day. Our goal is to have Edward, Michael and Søren positioned well going into the final. For Michael, Omloop will be his first race of the season following a very good training block with several team training camps, including one at altitude. With a few additions to the final we expect the race to be harder and aim to play a role with these three puncheurs. We have a really strong team to support our ambitions with Jai, Tom, Martijn and road captain Roy fresh out of other races in a good shape to help us achieve our goal."

- Two-time defending champion Greg van Avermaet: "I'm really happy that we are now at my first goal of the season and I'm really well prepared. Everything went well up until now so I'm looking forward to trying to win again. The shape is there so I just have to have some luck with the race situation. If everything goes well then I will be there in the finale and hopefully I can win."

- BMC Racing lineup for Omloop Het Nieuwsblad:

1 VAN AVERMAET, Greg
2 BETTIOL, Alberto
3 DRUCKER, Jean-Pierre
4 KÜNG, Stefan
5 ROELANDTS, Jurgen
6 SCHÄR, Michael
7 VAN HOOYDONCK, Nathan

- Tom Steels (directeur sportif, Quick-Step Floors): "It will be interesting to ride the new Omloop finale, similar with the one Flanders had until 2011. The new finale is a demanding one, and we’ll just see if it will lead to an open race or make the riders take a more defensive approach. We will be there with many cards, strong guys who have shown a good form these past few weeks; some of them can go from afar, while others can make use of their speed in case it comes down to a small group sprinting for the win. We are confident and really looking forward to these races."

- Quick-Step Floors for the Omloop (formerly Het Volk):

91 DEVENYNS, Dries
92 GAVIRIA, Fernando
93 GILBERT, Phillippe
94 KEISSE, Iljo
95 LAMPAERT, Yves
96 STYBAR, Zdenek
97 TERPSTRA, Nik

- Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step Floors) will be making his debut at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad: "I'm going to Europe for Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. I am really excited about making my debut there."

- The 2018 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is being held Saturday, February 24.
