The traditional Madonna di Ghisallo climb will be taken in the opposite direction and feature after around just 30 kilometres of racing. The series of climbs throughout the race will come to a total of 4500 metres of elevation gain over the 239 kilometres, making an extremely tough race. Our line up of climbers have showed good form and good team work in recent races and we will aim to continue this trend with the goal of putting Romain in contention for a top result here as our finisher."

- Team Bahrain McLaren line-up for Il Lombardia:

Enrico Battaglin
Grega Bole
Eros Capecchi
Scott Davies
Domen Novak
Mark Padun
Hermann Pernsteiner

- Team Bahrain McLaren Sports Director Franco Pellizotti: "Although it comes to a different moment of the season and some strong riders won’t compete here as they are at Dauphiné, ‘Il Lombardia’ will be as always a tough race, considering also the heat that will probably play its part. The course is selective, featuring the traditional ascents of Colle Gallo, Colle Brianza, Madonna del Ghisallo, Sormano, Civiglio and San Fermo della Battaglia in the final, before the classic arrival on the Como lakefront. We can count on a highly motivated leader as Pernsteiner, who is in good shape, as Padun, who lives nearby and knows those climbs very well. Capecchi feels also good and his experience will be helpful."

- 2020 Giro di Lombardia schedule/times:

Start at 12:00 CET, 6:00am ET
Finish at 18:29 CET, 12:29pm ET

- Ben King (NTT Pro Cycling): "Lombardia is a brutal race suiting the best climbers. The hardest climbs are stacked in the second half of the 230 km course. But it is also beautiful. With so much history and Italian romance surrounding this race, we all want to get the best out of ourselves."

- Bingen Fernandez (NTT Pro Cycling Sport Director): "Lombardia will be a tough challenge for our team. Normally, Amanuel would have led our team here after the promise he showed last year, racing deep into the finale of Lombardia. Now in his absence there will be new opportunities for our team, particularly for the younger guys, to take their chance and gain valuable experience."

- Deceuninck-Quickstep lineup for the 2020 Tour of Lombardy:

João Almeida (POR)
Andrea Bagioli (ITA)
Mattia Cattaneo (ITA)
Dries Devenyns (BEL)
Remco Evenepoel (BEL)
Mikkel Honoré (DEN)
Pieter Serry (BEL)
Sports Directors: Davide Bramati (ITA)
Geert Van Bondt (BEL)

- Deceuninck–Quick-Step sports director Davide Bramati: "We come with a lot of motivation at the start, despite having many young riders on the roster. The parcours is more or less the same, only the weather will be different this year, with the temperatures expected to hit 30 degrees Celsius. Of course, we hope to get a good result, but we can’t say that we are favourites, as many of the guys on the team will be making their debut in a Monument."

- Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo) won the 2019 Giro di Lombardia.

- The 2020 Il Lombardia is being held Saturday, August 15.  As always there will be Lombardy live streams.

Klaas Lodewyck (BEL)

- Davide Bramati, Deceuninck-Quickstep directeur sportif, before the 2019 Giro di Lombardia: "We won two Monuments this year, Sanremo and Roubaix, and we are very motivated to end our European season with another strong performance in Lombardia, a beautiful race where we’ve tasted success several times.  The route doesn’t bring anything new, which means it’s the same tough parcours that will end up making a serious selection by the time we’ll approach the last climb, the Battaglia, which should be decisive, as was the case so many times in the past."

- Team Sunweb roster for Il Lombardia:

Jan Bakelants (BEL)
Chris Hamilton (AUS)
Jai Hindley (AUS)
Marc Hirschi (SWI)
Wilco Kelderman (NED)
Robert Power (AUS)
Michael Storer (AUS)

- Arthur van Dongen, Team Sunweb coach: "It's the last Monument of the year and the last race of the season for most of the guys so everyone is really motivated to end with a good performance. Wilco is in good shape after the Vuelta and we aim to be active in the finale with him, once the race reaches the tougher climbs towards the end of the day. Last year we also had Michael in the break so if there are any large groups that go then we want to be present in them too. The team are motivated to deliver a good team performance and hopefully achieve a nice result to go with it."

- Quick-Step Floors directeur sportif Davide Bramati: "Il Lombardia delivers once again a tough course, with the race very likely to come to life in the last 70 kilometers, when Madonna del Ghisallo and Muro di Sormano will be tackled in quick succession. Later, Civiglio and the punchy Olimpino, which comes close to the finish on Lungo Lario Trento e Trieste, should also play an important role, especially if there will still be a sizeable group inside those last 20 kilometers.  We have had quite the Classics campaign this year and we are keen to show one more time the unique Wolfpack spirit and hopefully come out of this race with a nice result to bring down the curtain on our European season."

We know Alessandro De Marchi is in great shape after his win at Giro dell'Emilia and Dylan Teuns is riding well so these two will be our protected riders on Saturday. Damiano Caruso can also be up there and he will provide good support for our leaders. We are not the favorites going into the race so we will watch what happens and see how the race unfolds."

We'll aim to bring him into as fresh as possible condition to the two climbs in the middle, as well as when the race heads towards Como before the finish. - Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida) following his victory: "It was a perfect day.  I was still better than two years ago and I think you have seen it. In the last flat part my speed was over 5o km / h and so it was not easy to come and catch me. For me, it was number 50 win and I wanted to point out at the finish line.  I understand that I should have invented something. On the hardest part of Civiglio I started with a dry attack. I made a difference, I took Pinot and I have fallen down. It was nice to see so many people on the streets to fancy me, a really cool emotion.  I got a great support from my team.  I had great physical condition from the end of the season, but everyone was looking to me as the favorite so it was not easy to win."
