With De Gendt becoming a G.C. threat on the road on Stage 20, race leader Joaquim Rodriguez and Ryder Hesjedal were put under pressure.  They were able to limit the damage and Rodriguez got back a little time from Hesjedal heading into the final stage time trial where Hesjedal is expected to have the advantage.

De Gendt's victory yesterday was reminiscent of his solo victory on mountain Stage 7 of this year's Paris-Nice in March (photo above).  That stage was also followed by a race-ending time trial, albeit up the Col d'Eze in Nice, with De Gendt finishing 20th, 1:28 behind the winning time of Bradley Wiggins.
