My workstation for Paris-Roubaix coverage.  Thanks to technology, on the road I am able to remain connected most everywhere, receive the latest news from broadcasters like CTV, photos from my cycling photographers, help people worldwide watch the races, and do my own on-site coverage. Not shown are uninterrupted power supplies for power backup in the event of a power outage.  Also, I have redundant internet access capabilities in the event that an internet connection goes out; I always have two separate internet connections and sometimes three including using my smartphone as a wireless modem.  (At Paris-Nice this year, I updated the site using my laptop roadside connected to the internet through my smartphone.)  The smartphone also allows me to post high resolution cell phone images instantly on Twitter as well as to provide low resolution live video feeds, something I did at a couple of races early in the season including Tour of the Mediterranean.  I so wanted to photograph part of Paris-Roubaix this year and considered it right up to about 3am on Saturday but logistically it was going to be difficult getting there in time and also running the website on such a big day and then editing high resolution photos post-race.  The company that handles my site server, a pioneer from the early days of the web, tell me that on big race days my site gets the biggest rush of traffic they have ever seen!  We recently upgraded to a new server that is very fast and also handles more connections.  There were some hiccups a month or so ago getting things configured correctly at first but things are now running smoothly and this will give me more peace of mind to get out to more races.  -Pete
