Notes:

- An earlier message on the Tour of Missouri site about a live broadcast of the press conference has been removed, so perhaps they aren't streaming the press conference after all...

- The Tour of Missouri starts tomorrow.  This afternoon's opening press conference will be broadcast live over the net here at 4pm U.S. Eastern.  We will have links and info throughout the six-day race.

- If you get an error message when you go to cycling.tv, click on the "Live races" tab.  That should open a second window from which you can select the link for today's Free coverage or Vuelta channel coverage.  To then actually view the Vuelta channel (subscription only), you must scroll down on the page that displays the video window and select the 800kbs or 1200kbs stream.

Tour of Britain

- We asked Tour of Britain organizers about possible live coverage of their event.  They tell us "There is expected to be live regional coverage from the BBC but there is a 2 hour programme on BBC 2 on Sunday 16 September."  Thanks Debbie.  Our own Bernie S. in the U.K. confirms:  "No nothing live at all, BBC will have highlights at the end of the race, maybe over the net on their site as well."  Hopefully starting next year they will have some live video streaming.

Meanwhile, through September 15 you CAN follow Tour of Britain live Twitter text updates here.  Mark Cavendish of T-Mobile, in yellow after winning yesterday's prologue, just won stage 1 as well.  We will be posting regular Tour of Britain links and photos right here starting tomorrow.

- Eurosport is now playing today's Vuelta stage live.

- Cycling.tv is now showing today's stage of the Vuelta live.  Eurosport live coverage should follow shortly.

- Today's stage of the Tour of Poland is now streaming live.  Link below.

- We thought cycling.tv would be live by now with today's stage of the Vuelta, according to their schedule.  If they are live, we are not yet able to connect.  Perhaps their earlier than usual start time was posted in error?  If so, they should go live in a few minutes.

Below is our Guide to Live Coverage of the Vuelta a Espana

2003 Team USA 2007 Tour de l'Avenir

The 44th Tour de l'Avenir (Tour of the Future) starts today and runs through September 15 for 10 stages.

For the first time since 1980, this race is made up entirely of national teams.  Organized by Tour organizer Amaury Sport Organization (A.S.O.), the return to national teams may be an indication of ASO's intentions for the Tour de France itself in the near future.  (ASO is considering inviting a mixture of national teams and trade teams as early as 2008.)

20 national teams (including French teams A and B) have been invited, among them Team USA and Team Canada.  There is also a team of mixed nationalities.

Possible starters for Team USA include Peter Stetina, Chris Barton, Tejay Vangaderen, Taylor Tolleson, Peter Salon, Thomas Peterson, Craig Lewis, and Chad Beyer.

The photo above is from the 2003 edition of the race, a U.S. team that featured Shawn Milne and Will Frishkorn (front row), Patrick McCarty, Mike Creed, Danny Pate, and Tom Danielson.  Interestingly, Frishkorn, McCarty, Pate and Danielson are all on the roster for Team Slipstream in 2008 as the U.S. pro cycling landscape changes with the disbanding of Discovery Channel.

Raisin set for comeback race
- Saul Raisin Interview -
(Watch Saul race live today.  Details below.)

Just 17 months ago, American Saul Raisin of the French Crédit Agricole team lay in a coma in a French hospital after crashing during a stage of the Circuit de la Sarthe race.  His parents caught the next plane to France not knowing if Saul would still be alive when they arrived.  They soon learned that if he did survive, he'd be paralyzed for life.

Saul Raisin
photo Copyright © 2004 Pete Geyer

After many months of rehabilitation, Saul Raisin today will once again pin race numbers on his jersey, competing in the US Pro Time Trial Championships.  The Saul Raisin story, told so beautifully in the book, "Tour de Life: from Coma to Competition" (written with award-winning author Dave Shields) is getting brighter and brighter.  Indeed, life is good for Saul Raisin.  The book is published, he's back on the bike, and he'll be marrying Aleeza Zabriskie (sister of David) three months from today.

Anticipating the media demands on Saul's time this weekend (he'll be interviewing with reporters from CNN and "Inside Edition"), cyclingfans.com checked in with Saul last Saturday for a phone interview.  Saul couldn't have sounded happier.  The interview, "interrupted" once or twice by a playful Aleeza, touched on Saul's emotions surrounding his race today, the book, his Crédit Agricole team, his upcoming wedding, the French, and what he needs to do in order to be cleared to race a full schedule in 2008.  After informing Saul of Tour organizer ASO's threat to invite some national teams to the Tour, we asked Saul to name some teammates for a U.S. national team.  Would he pick Dave Zabriskie, Aleeza's brother?  Saul was understandably reluctant to name such a team, lest he forget someone.  But he's such a good sport, he played along anyway.  (If he forgot to name someone who feels he should have been named, blame us, not Saul!)

Click here for our exclusive Saul Raisin interview.

Allez, Saul!  American Saul Raisin's inspirational new book, "Tour de Life: From Coma to Competition," written with Dave Shields, is available for purchase online.

Below is our Guide to Live Coverage of the Eneco Tour of Benelux

The 2007 Vuelta a Espana LIVE starting in just 3 days
(USA Pro Cycling Championships and Tour of Missouri LIVE video streaming info below)

The Vuelta on cycling.tv - click for info and to sign up 2007 Vuelta a Espana live coverage

The 2007 Vuelta a Espana (Tour of Spain), which runs from September 1-23, is just 3 days away.  The best bet for watching the race online will be the Vuelta Channel on cycling.tv.  It will be "Available Worldwide , UK, excluding Europe. "

You will be able to watch the Vuelta LIVE for free at low bandwidths (up to 400kbs) on the cycling.tv Free2view Channel.  If you want to see a decent quality picture, however, you will need to purchase a full subscription to the Vuelta Channel (streaming up to 1,200kbs).   Note that the Vuelta Channel is NOT part of the cycling.tv Premium Channel package, so if you are a Premium Channel subscriber and want to see the best quality coverage of the Vuelta, you will need to purchase a Vuelta Channel subscription separately.  Also, a Vuelta Channel subscription is required in order to view Vuelta "as live" and highlights on cycling.tv.  There will be no "as live" or highlights available post-stage on the free2view channel.

The Cycling.tv Vuelta Channel full subscription is only 21 euros and includes "live streaming up to 1200 kbs, 'as live' re-run available in video on demand 1 hour after each stage and on demand highlights up 1800kbs."

For more info or to sign up for the Cycling.tv Vuelta Channel, click here.

Eurosport live coverage

For those with Eurosport on cable television or satellite TV, the network will be broadcasting the Vuelta live.  For cycling fans on the internet, that means there should be live audio streaming available, if somewhat unreliably.  However, aside from perhaps the tiny Eurosport video stream (without sound) that we occasionally list, we do not expect there to be a Eurosport live video stream of the Vuelta available worldwide.

Other live Vuelta video streams?

We do not know at this time what, if any, alternative Vuelta live video streams will be available worldwide.  The official Vuelta website streaming has been restricted to Spain in the past and obviously there are fewer alternatives than for the Tour de France.  We're not optimistic but we will, however, be on the look-out for alternative video streams.  But most people should be well served by the cycling.tv Free2view channel or Vuelta channel.

Starting Saturday, we will of course have a complete guide to following the Vuelta live on the internet: Vuelta live video, audio, tickers and graphics.

Notes:

- Eurosport's live audio stream of the Eneco Tour has begun, as has the tiny Eurosport live video stream.

- The cycling.tv live coverage of today's final stage of the Eneco Tour has begun.

- Our next update here after 14:55 CET (8:55am U.S. Eastern).
