- Manolo reports: "To my surprise I'm able to see France3.fr coverage of the Dauphine in
Puerto Rico!... Thanks for posting that it was seen in Hong Kong,
otherwise I might not have tried!" Thanks, Manolo!
- UK correspondent Bernie S. again sang the praises of the France3 feed yesterday,
saying "France 3 stream was magnificent, no buffer and tv quality on my big
screen." - Was that David Duffield on Eurosport who actually
referred to the climbs as "big lumpy stuff"? I think my head is going
to explode. If you understand French, audio commentary is MUCH better
on Eurosport France with Patrick Chasse and Jacky Durand, arguably the best color commentator in cycling. - Eurosport UK audio feed is playing the Dauphine Libere live.
- Dauphine Libere live now on TV2 Denmark and France3.fr.
- We convinced the nice folks behind the official site ticker to increase the refresh interval from 10 seconds to 1 minute. Much better now.
- Tom Boonenapologizes to his fans
.
- Start Order and Start Times for today's Dauphine Libere time trial can be found here
. (.pdf) (Note: Chris Horner (Astana) and Andre Greipel (High Road)
are non-starters today so there are only 141 riders left in the race now.)
- Following his positive test for cocaine,Tom Boonen has been barred by race organizers from competing in the Tour of Switzerland
which starts this weekend. Cocaine use out of competition does not
result in an official sanction but should Boonen be allowed to race in next
month's Tour de France?
- Today's Dauphine Libere Stage 3 is a 31km Individual Time Trial around Saint-Paul-en-Jarez. The first rider is scheduled to depart at 13:23 CET (7:23am U.S. Eastern). Dauphine Libere live coverage on cycling.tv
should begin at around 15:30 CET (9:30am U.S. Eastern). Dauphine Libere live streaming on France3.fr and on TV2 Denmark should also begin at around that time. At this time, it is unclear if TV2 Denmark
will be streaming the race today (or indeed at all until the final stage
on Sunday). We will update here as we have more information.
- Given his past success, and extra motivation with no TDF invite next month,
American Levi Leipheimer of Astana is the big favorite today. Flashback: Levi Leipheimer, 2005 Dauphine Libere
Levi Leipheimer, then with Gerolsteiner, was set to win the 2005 Dauphine
Libere before a breakaway with eventual winner Inigo Landaluze was allowed
to get too far up the road. Leipheimer finally won the overall in 2006,
joining Greg LeMond, Tyler Hamilton and Lance Armstrong as American winners
of this race. Can Leipheimer win again in 2008?
