Below is a guide
to live coverage of the final stage of the
2007 Paris-Nice
Note: Eurosport switches over to live coverage of Tirreno-Adriatico
starting tomorrow, Monday
Attention collectors: We are listing cycling memorabilia
and race souvenirs on eBay
With 18 consecutive years in France, since Greg Lemond's comeback
win in 1989, seeing the Tour de France as the French see it, on television
or roadside, and since 2003 at the races "from Paris-Nice to Paris-Tours,"
we've collected a few things...from vintage Tour road maps to race route
road signs to cycling figures and event lapel pins.
We are now in our third season of publishing guides to live online
race coverage, wallpaper and cycling photos and the banker says it's high
time to start covering some expenses, particularly since we'd like to
expand our coverage and upgrade things on the site. Toward that end,
we have decided to begin by selling some cool stuff on eBay as well as
open an online store where we will sell items such as t-shirts and posters.
So if you see anything you like, then you can get some cool stuff
while helping us out at the same time. You'll find our eBay items
here
(more items to come in the days ahead) and the online shop should
be open by the end of March. Thanks for continuing to visit cyclingfans.com!

Notes:
- As of 17:00 CET (12pm U.S. Eastern), Zulu is showing the finish
into Nice of today's exciting Paris-Nice stage.
- As of 16:55 CET (11:55am U.S. Eastern), the Eurosport audio
streams are playing a replay of today's Tirreno-Adriatico time trial.
- Wow, what a stage. At race finish, Zulu was unfortunately
still on a hockey game. If they do have a tape delay of today's
stage, it will be worth watching. If you are in the U.S., Versus
(OLN) is supposed to have Paris-Nice highlights today. Check our
Versus schedule link and your local listings.
- Eurosport's coverage with David Harmon and Sean Kelly has gone
live. Audio commentary available via the Eurosport audio link.
- We are hoping that a Eurosport video feed will go live at around
15:45 CET (10:45am U.S. Eastern), in about 10 minutes. Stay tuned.
- Apparently coverage on Zulu will not begin until around 16:15
CET (11:15am U.S. Eastern). It might be live for the finish or,
like yesterday, a tape delay with more of the race.
- Eurosport France's live coverage of today's final stage of Paris-Nice
has begun. The French audio commentary stream is now live.
- A new French law was just passed that requires that Frenchman
Thomas Voeckler win the Tour de France within 3 years. (Sorry,
lame joke.)
- Next Saturday is the season's first big one-day "ProTour" race,
Milan-Sanremo.
- Eurosport will pick up live coverage of Tirreno-Adriatico starting
tomorrow, Monday. A ticker for today's stage of TA is
here
. It hasn't been much of a ticker thus far but that
should improve starting tomorrow with tickers in multiple languages,
including English.
- Eurosport's live coverage (English) of today's final Paris-Nice
stage is scheduled to begin at 15:45 CET (10:45am U.S. Eastern), followed
by taped coverage of stage 5 of Tirreno-Adriatico. Eurosport France
coverage is scheduled to begin at 15:00 CET (10am U.S. Eastern), in just
a couple of minutes.
- If you ever want to go on vacation in March, you can do worse
than seeing the finish of Paris-Nice in Cannes and Nice. It is
usually relatively mild. Access to the riders before stage starts
is excellent and you can dine in cafes, among various team and race personnel,
staring at the sun reflecting off of the Mediterranean. You can
fly directly into Nice or into Paris, then reach Cannes/Nice quickly by
plane or train.
- Be sure to reload this page occasionally for the latest live
race coverage links and information for Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico.
- Welcome to today's live coverage guide for Stage 7
of Paris-Nice.
- What's the fastest way to see photos from today's
stage of Paris-Nice? Check out the Yahoo photo gallery
link in our Live Guide. AP/AFP photographers will sometimes
send in photos from the road mid-stage.
- Times are adjusted for U.S. Daylight Savings Time.
Thus, European CET (Paris, etc.) is currently 5 hours ahead
of U.S. Eastern Time instead of 6.

Notes:
- Tomorrow's final stage of Paris-Nice is scheduled to finish
sometime between 16:30 CET (11:30 U.S. Eastern) and 17:00 CET (12pm
U.S. Eastern).
- Correction: Zulu today is on a bit of a delay. On
the plus side, if you're joining in late, you can see more of the race.
You may want to just watch and forget the tickers since the stage
has finished early.
- The Zulu video stream is live. If you are watching, you
can see that it is a beautiful day on the French Riviera, on the approach
down into Cannes.
- Eurosport France is doing a live broadcast of today's Paris-Nice
stage into beautiful Cannes; other countries will be on tape delay. Frenchmen
Richard Virenque and Jacky Durand are commentating on the French live
audio stream.
- The Eurosport Tirreno-Adriatico live ticker is

Notes:
- Paul in the U.K. just wrote in describing his interesting setup
for following Paris-Nice: He has digital satellite and
can watch the race on Eurosport, albeit with German
commentary. Finding the English-language Eurosport audio stream
here at cyclingfans.com , he programmed that into his brand
new internet radio. He puts the radio by his television
and he's all set, though he does report a slight lag with the audio commentary.
Thanks for sharing that, Paul! Gonna have to get one of those
internet radios. Anyone else want to share how they follow the races
via video and audio streaming and live tickers?
Let us know
!
- The Eurosport audio streams have gone live. As of 15:10
CET (10:10am U.S. Eastern), we are able to access the English, French
and Spanish language streams. If you are watching the race on Zulu,
you can mute the sound in your media player and then play one of the
Eurosport audio streams for your commentary.
- There is a Paris-Nice live video stream available
here
.
- A Tirreno-Adriatico Eurosport live ticker (Italian) should go
live shortly
here
.
- If you've been having difficulty accessing Sporza and Eurosport
audio streams, you are not alone. The Eurosport French audio stream
was the only live audio stream working for us yesterday. Heavy
access to the English language audio stream may explain the problems there.
In fact, there are a LOT of you following the races; we are seeing
record numbers for this early in the season. It's good to see that
demand is high. Hopefully increased bandwidth will follow!

Notes:
- Eurosport's coverage of tomorrow's decisive Stage 4 of
Paris-Nice is currently scheduled to begin at 14:15 CET (9:15am U.S.
Eastern). This earlier start time for such an important stage
should mean Eurosport will give this priority over Tirreno-Adriatico.
- Correction: The Eurosport live video stream
below is for Tirreno-Adriatico, not Paris-Nice. Sorry for the
confusion!
- Paris-Nice
Stage 3 Live Video Flash: Today's
stage is now live
here
(Thanks again, Bernie!).
- Here is a Eurosport
live video stream
of today's stage 1 of Tirreno-Adriatico. Unfortunately,
this is not available in all countries. (Thanks for the link, Bernie
S!)
- Versus (formerly OLN) is showing Paris-Nice highlights
today, apparently at 3pm U.S. Eastern. Schedule link at left.
Check your local listings. (Thanks, Peter in Santa Barbara!)
- Sporza is either starting later than usual today or is
seeing very heavy access, as it did yesterday.
- If you haven't already noticed, Eurosport's coverage of
Paris-Nice in most countries is starting later than usual today, at
around 15:45 CET (10:45am U.S. Eastern). However, Eurosport
France is already broadcasting today's stage live, thus the French
audio stream is live.
- Don't miss tomorrow's huge decisive Paris-Nice stage up
to Mende. The Discovery Channel team, in search of a new title
sponsor for 2008, needs wins and should look to make a move tomorrow
in the hopes of taking control of this race. Contador? Leipheimer?
- Eurosport 2 has partial coverage of Tirreno-Adriatico
which starts today and runs through March 20. We will have
some form of live streaming coverage of Tirreno-Adriatico, certainly
no later than Sunday, March 18 when Eurosport switches the race coverage
from Eurosport 2 to the main channel, and hopefully before. Stay
tuned.
- Welcome to today's live coverage guide for Stage 3
of Paris-Nice.
- What's the fastest way to see photos from today's
stage of Paris-Nice? Check out the Yahoo photo gallery

- Times are adjusted for U.S. Daylight Savings Time.
Thus, European CET (Paris, etc.) is currently 5 hours ahead
of U.S. Eastern Time instead of 6.
- Cyclingnews will not be providing a live Paris-Nice
ticker until Thursday, March 15.

- Don't understand German? Then mute the sound
in your media player for the Eurosport live video stream and play
one of the Eurosport audio streams separately!
- Paris-Nice live video
flash: We have another Eurosport
live video stream for you. We have confirmation that it works
in the U.S., France and in the U.K., perhaps everywhere else as well.
(Thanks, Bernie S!)
- Velonews has gone live with a Paris-Nice Stage
1 live ticker. Welcome aboard, captain.
- What's the fastest way to see photos from today's stage
of Paris-Nice? Check out the Yahoo photo gallery link
in our Live Guide. AP/AFP photographers have already sent in
photos from this morning's start. They will sometimes send in
photos from the road mid-stage.
- Eurosport English (with Sean Kelly, who won Paris-Nice
a record 7 consecutive times) and German audio streams have gone
live.
- A Eurosport Paris-Nice live video stream is now available
for cycling fans in Germany. Streams available to other countries
are expected during the week as Eurosport continues its push into live
video streaming.
- The Sporza live Paris-Nice video stream did indeed
go live at 10am U.S. Eastern.
- The Eurosport French audio has also gone live.
- As of 14:50 CET (9:50 U.S. Eastern), Eurosport is not
yet broadcasting live audio of Paris-Nice. Eurosport France
at this time has a replay of yesterday's prologue, meaning the
live broadcast likely will begin at 15:00 CET (10am U.S. Eastern).
- We are checking some leads on live video streaming
that is freely available worldwide. We hope to see some
Eurosport Paris-Nice live video streams.
The Sporza Paris-Nice stream may not go live until after
15:00 CET (10am U.S. Eastern). If you have difficulty getting a
connection, keep trying.

Note: Eurosport is not covering today's Paris-Nice prologue
live, thus no live audio streams of the race today. There
should be live coverage starting tomorrow for the remainder of the
race. We hope to have more links for live streaming starting
tomorrow. Also, oddly neither Cyclingnews nor Velonews are at
this time providing live tickers of today's prologue...and no one is
providing English-language commentary at Eurosport either. Not
a great way to start things off with Europe's first big stage race of
the season. Consequently, there is not much point in our posting
a Live Guide today. We will post one tomorrow.

taking into account the fact that the U.S. is now with Daylight
Savings Time.) So we'll post our Live Guide at around that time.

Cycling live coverage, video and audio streaming in 2007
The first big European stage race of the year,
Paris-Nice , gets underway tomorrow with
a prologue in Issy-les-Moulineaux (home
of Tour organizer Amaury Sport Organization ( A.S.O.
), L'Equipe , and Eurosport ), just
outside Paris.

Our Paris-Nice "Live Guide" will be posted
before tomorrow's prologue. During the week, Eurosport
will be covering Paris-Nice live on cable. Eurosport, which
has long offered live audio streams on the internet, started getting
into live video streaming in 2006. Though details
are sketchy at this time, Eurosport will be getting more into live
video streaming in 2007, possibly in a major way. For Paris-Nice,
at minimum there should be live Eurosport audio streams in multiple
languages.

Eurosport has taken over (from the French
Sport+ cable channel) broadcasting of selected
French Cup races. Thus, they broadcast on cable,
and also streamed on the internet, live video coverage of the
Tour du Haut Var last month. Eurosport moving further into
live video streaming over the internet is of course good news for
cycling fans who watch racing online. For the occasion, they
have come up with a new live video logo...and we will of course list
Eurosport live video and audio streams in our Live Guides throughout
the 2007 season.
Of course, we are always on the lookout for
alternative sources of live video and audio which are, like
Eurosport, freely available to everyone. In the past 12
months, our Live Guides have included links to live video
and/or audio streaming of virtually all of cycling's top races,
including, among others:
Tour of California, Tour of Valencia, Omloop Het Volk, Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne,
Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico, Milano-San Remo, Dwars door Vlaanderen,
Criterium International, E3 Prijs Vlaanderen, De Brabantse Pijl,
Three Days of De Panne, Tour of Flanders, Tour of the Basque Country,
Ghent-Wevelgem, Paris-Roubaix, Track Cycling World Championships,
Amstel Gold Race, La Fleche Wallonne, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Tour
de Romandie, Giro d'Italia (Tour of Italy), Dauphiné Libéré,
Tour of Switzerland, Tour de France, Vattenfall Cyclassics, Tour
of Germany, Eneco Tour, Vuelta a Espana (Tour of Spain), U.S.A. Cycling
Pro Championships, Tour of Poland, UCI Road World Championships, Paris-Tours
and the Tour of Lombardy.
Our Live Guides have also listed live tickers
for nearly all of the above races and dozens of other,
smaller races. We've also listed dynamic graphics
and radio coverage where available.
As more and more television broadcasters and
race organizers start offering live video streaming from their
websites, we will make sure you know about them. We'll also
keep you informed of trends in internet coverage of cycling, from
dynamic graphics, live SRM telemetry , and
GPS tracking . If you followed the Tour of California
using Adobe's Tour Tracker , you've already gotten
a glimpse of what the future holds. More on that soon.
2007 Tour de France to be broadcast in high definition television
After conducting tests in 2006, France Televisions
will be broadcasting the 2007 Tour de France in
high definition television format. Tour
organizer A.S.O. made the announcement yesterday in the Paris suburb
of Roissy, with representatives of pro teams in attendance ahead of
the start this weekend of Paris-Nice. HDTV tests
during 2006 included coverage of the Criterium International
in March and Paris-Tours in October.
