Below are guides to
live coverage of Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne and Tour of California
Note: Paris-Nice starts just one week from today!
The race will begin with a prologue in Issy-les-Moulineaux, just outside
Paris. American Bobby Julich of Team CSC returns to defend his 2005
win. He'll be joined by teammates American Dave Zabriskie and German
Jens Voigt. Can CSC be denied a three-peat? (Former CSC rider
Jorg Jaksche won in 2004.) Phonak's American Floyd Landis, set to
wrap up overall victory today in the Tour of California, will be riding
Paris-Nice too. Throw in some talented European and Australian riders
and Paris-Nice should be an exciting race. Coming up this week we'll
have information on options for following this race online.

video of tomorrow's Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne race. Coverage is
expected to begin at 8:30am U.S. EST (14:30 CET) George Hincapie won
KBK in 2005 but of course is not back to defend as he's competing in the

are competing in Belgium this weekend, however.

Note: With the Tour of California having left the
San Francisco area, perhaps
CBS 2
will have a live feed?
---
Note: The CBS 5 chopper that has been providing
live video feeds of the Tour of California apparently was grounded yesterday.
We added a link to their home page below in case they mention whether
or not there will be a live feed today.

Tour of California
Landis dominates time trial, takes gold jersey
CSC must go on the attack
"Bobby, can you hear me now?"
CSC manager/1996 Tour de France winner Bjarne Riis and Bobby Julich
discuss a radio problem, 2004 Criterium International
Bobby Julich had a problem with his radio during yesterday's time
trial and ended up yanking out his earphone.
Team CSC entered the Tour of California as a heavy favorite for
the overall win and as yet doesn't have so much as a stage win, with
Levi Leipheimer (Gerolsteiner), George Hincapie (Discovery Channel) and
Floyd Landis (Phonak) all getting stage wins plus time in the leader's
jersey. Phonak now plays defense and CSC will have to attack during
the next couple of days if they want any chance to win this race.
Note: Sorry for the delay in updating today's
links.

Floyd Landis, Phonak
2005 Dauphine Libere
Notes: Floyd Landis demolished the field
in yesterday's individual time trial, beating CSC's Dave Zabriskie by 26
seconds, CSC's Bobby Julich by 35 seconds, Discovery Channel's George Hincapie
by 55 seconds and Health Net's Nathan O'Neill by 57 seconds.
Landis's performance was good enough to get him the overall race lead as
well. He leads Zabriskie by 29 seconds. Julich is third at 34
seconds.

Tour of California
Hincapie wins stage 2, takes gold jersey
Individual time trial today could be decisive

George Hincapie, Discovery Channel
2005 Dauphine Libere
Notes: George Hincapie sprinted to victory
in yesterday's stage, taking the race lead from Levi Leipheimer in the process.
This inaugural edition of the Amgen Tour of California is reminiscent
of last June's Dauphine Libere stage race in France, plus or minus (okay,
minus) a Mont Ventoux or two. Both races feature a prologue plus
seven more stages. The prologue in both races was dominated by
American riders. (In Aix-les-Bains, it was Hincapie beating Leipheimer
by just one second to take the leader jersey. Floyd Landis was
in 4th at 5 seconds with Lance Armstrong 5th at 6 seconds. In San
Francisco, Americans swept the top 5 places.)
In France, Leipheimer used the Dauphine's long time trial to grab
the yellow jersey. He turned in a phenomenal ride just missing the
stage win, again by just one second, this time behind Santiago Botero.
In the Tour of California, of course, Leipheimer had the leader's
jersey first before losing it to Hincapie yesterday. So, two of the
best U.S. riders led the 2005 Dauphine and now the inaugural race in California.
Today's individual time trial could prove decisive as the top 5
overall (Hincapie, Leipheimer, Julich, Landis and Zabriskie) are all within
13 seconds of each other. We may see yet another change in the leader
jersey in this race that despite no mountaintop finish is proving suspenseful.
